Compassionate Consumers

The list that I just called in to the office supply store was very long. I went away for about two weeks and my office manager quit. So, no one else took it upon themselves to order the office supplies that they needed and they were pretty much out of everything that they use every day.

I put a rush on the office supplies and the owner of the office supply store told me that he would make sure to deliver the items himself. He was going to have his staff work on my order first and then it would be on its way. I was glad to hear it and then called the local newspaper to place a help wanted ad for a new office manager.

The office supplies cabinet that is usually locked was wide open this morning when I came into work. There seemed to be quite a bit of office supplies missing but since my boss was the only one here at that time, I just assumed that she is the one who took them. When I asked her about it, she told me that she had not been in the cabinet since two days ago.

I know for a fact that just two days ago, the discount office supplies deliver man brought our usual monthly order and put it all away, just like he does every month. I watched him come in the front door, go over to the cabinet and use the key that I had specially made for him and put everything away. There was nothing different about that process from the many times that he has done it before. I also remember him locking it, because he got yelled at one time when he forgot to, by my boss.

Now, the rest of my day is going to be tracking down the discount office supplies thief and hoping that they are still in the building. I already put in a rush order for a few things that we will need from the office supply company and they are going to deliver it this morning.

My son was old enough to order his new footed pajamas from the boy pajamas section instead of the toddler one. I was excited to see that there was more of a variety in this section and that he could finally start to get the footed pajamas with the characters and cars on them like he wanted. In the toddler section, the boys pajamas were all either plain or had some really babyish characters on them that my son was not into anymore.

I told him to pick out four different footed pajamas that he really liked and was happy to see that they had his size in all of them but one. I told him that I would look online to find him that particular one and would not stop looking until I found it.

I had to spend about three hours online checking every store that sold the footed pajamas and trying to find the one set that my son had been promised. I knew that he would never forget that I had told him that I would find them. Therefore when I was just about ready to stop looking for the day, I was so happy to find them on the very last site that I had the patience to sit there and look at.

My first job three years ago when I was just out of college was to make sure that my father’s company had all the office supplies that they needed at all times. This job was not as easy as it seemed. I had to stay up on all the prices from all the area office supply houses and if someone offered lower prices on just one item, then I had to order it from them. Even if ninety nine percent of the order was coming from the usual company, the cheaper item would have to be bought from the one who had the best price.

There were so many different offices in the building that my father ran, that I had to check in many times a day with each of them to see that their office supply closets were full. At any time, one of them might have a big report or sale that had come in and the copy paper could go quickly. Every day was an adventure when I had my office supply order girl job. I miss it sometimes when I am working a big case but I do not miss the pay. My father paid me minimum wage, he said that it was to make me appreciate a real paying job when I found one.

My sixteen year old niece was coming to stay with us for the summer and had never been to a big city prior to staying with us. I wanted her to experience all of the fun things that a big city has to offer. I was hoping to take her to a few shows, some fancy restaurants, and really great stores and maybe even to a movie premiere.

When we went to pick her up at the airport, she seemed to be a little nervous. I think that it was probably because the airport was so big and there were a lot of people there. When I told her of my plans, she was really excited. She wanted to go to the stores first so that she could get some new things to wear on our adventures around the city.

We spent the entire next day shopping for Prada shoes and Gucci handbags. I think that she was having such a great time, that she forgot that she had been nervous the day before. I made sure that all of her new clothes would go with her new Prada shoes and the Gucci handbags that she picked out.

She wore the new Prada shoes along with a beautiful black gown to the movie premiere and brought one of her Gucci handbags with her to the most talked about restaurant in town. When the summer was over she thanked me for showing her such a great time in the city.

When my best friend and I started our own coffee house, we needed to find a company to supply us with janitorial products at a good price. I had found one online that had good reviews and their prices looked to be unbeatable. I called and had them send us a complete price list of all the cleaning supplies that they offered. My best friend called two other companies that were local and we sat down with all three price lists to make a decision on which one to use.

We made the decision to go with the online janitorial products company since they had the best prices out of all of them. They also guarantee that everything we order will be on time and that the order will be checked twice before it is shipped out so that there are no mistakes.

The first day that the coffee house was open, we had a line around the block. It seems that it will definitely be a huge success. I think that we did our homework before going in on having a successful business and running it on a shoestring budget. By hiring all the best but lowest suppliers, and doing a lot of the work in the shop ourselves, this coffee shop is a dream come true.

My sixteen year old son told me that he did not want to do the mall shopping thing, but he needed some new t shirts. I asked him how he thought he would get them then. He told me to just give him the plastic and he would take care of it, from home. I would never just hand over the plastic, so I compromised and sat with him on the computer while he shopped. He found a website that had cheap t shirts on it, and I told him that he could purchase five of the funny t shirts that he wanted from this website. I was surprised to find out how many funny t shirts that this one site had to choose from. I was even happier to find out how many cheap t shirts that they had on this website. He then asked me if he could go to another site and buy these two funny t shirts that he had been wanting for a long time, and I agreed to let him look and I would make the decision after I saw the price. I could not believe the cheap t shirts on this website also. I will not be shopping at the mall anymore; we will be shopping at home on the computer.

I wanted to get something for my five year old nephew’s birthday that no one else would get him. I ordered him a photo puzzle 1000 pieces from a company that makes photo puzzles. I picked out the picture that I had taken of him about a week earlier when we had gone to the zoo. He loved the zoo, so I knew that the picture of him feeding the baby goats would be a winner.

At the party, he got lots of toy trucks and of course clothes which every kid just loves. I was so excited to have him open this gift that I could hardly stand it. When he finally got to my gift, I was hoping that he would love it, and he did. He wanted to stop the party and put it together right then and there but a photo puzzle 1000 pieces is not something that can be done very quickly when you have a bunch of five year old helping you. All the parents of those five year olds asked me where they could get their own photo puzzles made.

We put the photo puzzle 1000 pieces away until the following day, when I came and helped him and his parents get started on it. We worked on the photo puzzle for about a month before we finished it and then my nephew wanted to take it down and start all over again.
